By Greg C. Pegarro
Faculty and Staff of USTP Jasaan attended the AACCUP accreditors on a virtual interview on the second day of the one-week virtual visit.
First time in the history of accreditations in the Philippines the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines Jasaan campus submitted its Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program for level II accreditation. This was held on December 7-11, 2020. One of the main goals of program accreditation is to help determine if an institution meets or exceeds minimum standards of quality.
The 5-day BS IT program accreditation was headed by USTP Jasaan campus director Dr. Ruel S. Salvador, together with its academic head Engr. Maricel C. Mandawe, and BS IT program chairperson Ms. Nevel Taurine D. Cuasito. USTP team Jasaan is also composed of area chairpersons working hand in hand to prepare the pertinent documents for BS IT program for level II. Ms. Nivea Louwah D. Sermona, QAA director and Mr. Irwin C. Fabela, accreditation coordinator for USTP Jasaan helped guide the entire accreditation tasks force. Noteworthy to mention, the virtual accreditation would not have been complete without the expertise of the following team of accreditors: Dr. Czarina Ancella G. Gabi, Southern Leyte State University, team leader, Dr. Nancy Getalado-Lanuza, Northwest Samar State University, team member, and Dr. Benhur A. Asid, Western Mindanao University, team member. With an end view of improving the BSIT program and maintaining quality education USTP team is excited to wait for the results of the accreditation to continue its strengths and improve weak areas in accordance with the accreditors recommendations.
